The final chart above depicts “Assessed Value to Square Mile Ratio.” This chart attempts to deal with the area differencials between cities, focusing on the 20 cities within the top 36 LA County cities with CRAs, with areas of 10 square miles or less.
Santa Monica tops this list of cities with 10 or less square miles with a whopping $663,025,175 per square mile. Cerritos is highly ranked again with an average of $212,730,833 per square mile.
Surprisingly, Compton is ranked 6th with a ranking of $112,386,943 per suqare mile. Hawthorne is ranked 7th with $107,092,779 per square mile.
Inglewood is ranked 8th with $99,723,441 per square mile. Again, it must be noted that Inglewood’s square mile rating would be much lower, if not for Hollywood Park Race Track and Casino, allowing Inglewood to receive a tax increment revenue from private investments that were not the result of redevelopment exposure.
